The term “routine transmission service” is a bit of a misnomer, because when it comes to transmissions, the routine can be anything but. The fact of the matter is, even though we think of transmissions as being a singular component of the engine, it is actually a highly intricate collection of parts. Each part of a transmission must be working properly for the entire transmission to operate smoothly and efficiently. Given that, routine transmission service can be quite complex and technical. Even so, it must be done, because transmission service is integral to you getting the most out of your vehicle.
Like every other part and component of an automobile, the transmission requires regular service and maintenance to ensure a long life with minimal issues and problems. At Mister Transmission, we take transmissions very seriously and transmission service is our bread and butter. At Mister Transmission, our transmission service consists of a complete diagnosis of your transmission’s performance and general operation. What’s more, we perform several of these procedures twice; once by the centre manager and then again by a technician. By doing this, we double check your transmission’s key systems and provide you with added assurance.
The ultimate key of Mister Transmission’s transmission service is our multi-check inspection. When trying to diagnose and correct any and all of your transmission’s issues, we perform a multi-check inspection. Our multi-check inspection consists of the following: a fluid check, a road test, a lift inspection/diagnosis, and a pan examination. By carrying out these four important checks, we can ensure your transmission gets the best service possible.
If your transmission is suffering from any problems of wear and tear, we’ll be able to see it by performing a fluid check. If your transmission is in good working order it will have a clear red fluid. If not, your fluid will be discoloured and possibly even have an unpleasant odour. By performing a fluid check, our technicians can determine whether or not your transmission requires an internal inspection.
Our road test is comprised of two components: a stationary test and a driving test. This is the most detailed portion of our multi-check transmission service. We test every position of your transmission for slipping, noises, harsh, soft or erratic shifting, as well as late or early shift patterns.
The lift inspection portion of our transmission service checks a whole host of different components of the transmission. In doing so, we can determine if a minor adjustment can correct the transmission problem in question. As part of the lift inspection, we will check: the neutral switch, engine RPM, throttle linkage, modulators, transmission mounts, U-joints. fluid retention, and the electronic controls.
The pan examination is quite possibly the most important portion of our transmission service. By doing so, we can get a partial look into the transmission. In every pan, we expect to find some metal particles and friction material. However, an excessive amount indicates internal wear and damage.
Our multi-check inspection is a big part of our transmission service. But there’s a lot else that goes into Mister Transmission’s transmission service, too. If you have any questions about this or anything else, please contact us today.
The evolution of transmissions has made these machines and systems increasingly complex. When transmission repairs are required, determining the cause and cure for what ails can be tricky.
